West Lancs Mark No 65 Installation

The first Wednesday in November saw members and visitors meet at Liverpool Masonic Hall for West Lancashire Mark Lodge No 65 Installation meeting. Due to circumstances beyond his control The Worshipful Master, WBro Jack Poller was not able to attend the meeting and so it was all hands-on deck.

WBro Eric Poole took the Chair for the opening and performing the installation ceremony. Other people volunteered to do jobs and sit in where necessary. When the Lodge had been opened there was an In Memoriam to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11. With the Lodge domestic business out of the way, it was time to introduce, WBro Brian Povey, Provincial Grand Junior Warden, who was representing the RW Provincial Grand Master for the Installation.

WBro Povey was accompanied by VWBro David Anderton, WBro Steve Walls, who is the PGM’s Special Representative for the Liverpool area and WBro Colin Mills, WBro Kevin Chicken and WBro Jorge Perez. Once the salutations had been given; it was time for the Installation.

With the inner working offices in place; the acting DC, WBro Derek Gaskell presented the Master Elect, Bro Brian O’Hare to WBro Eric Poole for the benefit of Installation. It was a fine ceremony considering the time that WBro Poole had to prepare. WBro Eric Poole also presented the Working Tools to the Mater and WBro Derek Gaskell presented the Master with the Keystone Jewel, before giving the Address to the Master.

WBro O’Hare then appointed his offices who are going to assist him throughout his year. The Wardens and Overseers addresses were given by WBro Gaskell. It was now time for WBro Brian Povey to give the Address to the Brethren which he did in fine style. Considering the difficulties before the meeting everyone got stuck in and gave WBro O’Hare an enjoyable Installation ceremony.

With the ceremony over, it was time for WBro Brian Povey, to relay the RW Provincial Grand Master’s congratulations to WBro Brian O’Hare on taking the chair for the first time. He also on behalf of the PGM congratulated WBro Eric Poole on a job very well done at short notice. With the congratulations given, the Worshipful Master presented the reprehensive of the RW Provincial Grand Master with a very generous cheque for charity.

This was gratefully received. With the Lodge closed in due form, it was time for the festive board. In response to his toast WBro Povey again congratulated WBro Brian O’Hare on going into the Chair of West Lancs 65 Mark and he also gave high praise to WBro Eric Poole on the fine job he had done with the ceremony.

WBro Povey also invited the Worshipful Master to the Provincial Grand Mark Lodge meeting which will take place at the Winter Gardens Blackpool on Thursday, 27th April, 2023. It is expected that each Lodge in the Province should be represented at the meeting.

The Worshipful Master is also entitled to attend the Royal Ark Mariner Assembly also at Blackpool, but at the Savoy Hotel on 19th September 2023. It is also encouraged that all members of the Mark join the Royal Ark Mariner degree.

This meeting showed the true Magic of the Mark; everyone willing to their bit to help out in difficult circumstances; a truly friendly degree. We wish WBro Brian O’Hare and West Lancs 65 Mark an enjoyable and successful season.
